Over the past couple of days I’ve had two distinct “getting older” moments. The first was while talking to one of the new guys at work and discussing a movie, which one, I don’t quite remember. His response was “that movie was before my time”, and I was like “but that was like the late 80s”, and he piped up with he was born in 1985. That makes him born after things like E.T., Return of the Jedi, and Bambi. So now I know how all those folks felt when I was a new-hire at 18.

The other moment was when Maggie and I were headed to Best Buy and we got excited when we saw refrigerators outside. We both looked at each other and said “Isn’t it sad that we’re getting excited about major appliances?”. I think it says something about our changing priorities in life. I also do think that the appliances are getting more features that appeal to me, like the washer and dryer that communicate where the washer tells the dryer what was just washed and it sets itself up to dry that. Pretty neat. Man, I am getting older.
